  10. KPN GSM operator in the Netherlands - Instructions on the bottom

What are we doing?  We are instructing the PDA as to the modem type, the number to be dialed and the name of the server to which you are assigned by your carrier.  What is different from provider to provider throughout the GSM world or even within a provider is the server address to which you have been assigned.  For T Mobile be aware that some accounts are assigned to internet2 and some are assigned to internet3 and I am sure as their business grows they will create internet4.  Check with your provider for the latest information and the correct server (APN).  GPRS is a rapidly growing dynamic technology and providers install new servers as a function of their market growth.  Be sure to check with them so you know what is the correct server (APN) to which you are assigned.  Shown below is what "normally" you are assigned to with T Mobile, AT&T, Cingular, Rogers and KPN.

I hope this is relatively painless - I've been in so many hotels from Rio to Shanghai to Berlin that setting up a modem seems fairly straight forward and simple.  Sorry... maybe my wife is right and I am a geek.  If you need help after you have tried the instructions we are here to give whatever assistance we can.

Rogers AT&T Settings for G1

I just phoned Rogers AT&T Technical Support for data and they gave me the following information:

1) On the GPRS Settings screen under Phone Number type: *99#

2) Under PIN Code Required: This should not be checked and PIN Code should not be entered here (the tech guy told me that on the outside chance this does not work, check the box and use 1234 as the PIN Code).

3) Under Extra Settings Required: Make sure this box is checked and there is a dot beside APN Only. In the text box enter:
internet.com

4) Now click on the Login button at the bottom. In this next screen make sure the box beside User Name and Password Required is checked. Under Username type: wapuser1
Under Password type: wap

5) When done, click OK to take you back to the previous screen. Now click on the TCP/IP button at the bottom of the screen. Under IP Address make sure there is a dot beside Use Server Assign IP Address. Under DNS Address, make sure there is a dot beside Use Server Assign DNS Address.

6) Now click OK at the top of the screen and you are done!
